Puerto del Carmen is one of Lanzarote’s most popular resorts, and it’s easy to see why. With its bustling marina, large beach, and lively atmosphere, it’s a favorite among tourists. However, it wasn’t quite our cup of tea for a longer stay.
What We Loved
The Marina: The marina area is undoubtedly the highlight of Puerto del Carmen. It’s picturesque, with plenty of boats bobbing in the water and a selection of upscale restaurants and bars. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll here and stopped for a drink with a view.
The Beach: The main beach in Puerto del Carmen is large and well-maintained, with plenty of space to spread out. It’s a great spot for sunbathing or taking a dip in the sea.
What We Didn’t Love
The Tourist Vibe: Puerto del Carmen felt very touristy to us, almost like a smaller version of Benidorm. The main strip is lined with souvenir shops, fast-food joints, and bars blasting music, which isn’t really our scene.
The Crowds: Compared to Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen felt much busier and noisier. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape, this might not be the place for you.
Top Experiences in Puerto del Carmen
Marina Strolls: The marina is beautiful, especially in the evening. It’s a great spot for a romantic walk or a drink with a view.
Beach Time: The main beach is perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
People-Watching: If you enjoy a lively atmosphere, the main strip is great for soaking up the energy.

Final Thoughts
While Puerto del Carmen has its appeal—especially the marina and beach—it’s not somewhere we’d choose to stay. However, it’s worth a visit if you want to experience a different side of Lanzarote.
